Footballer celebrates win by stripping naked and putting penis in trophy

A footballer is in hot water after placing his penis inside a trophy as part of a bizarre celebration.

Lillestrøm SK have been celebrating their 3-2 win against Sarpsborg 08 on Sunday evening, which saw the team claim the Norwegian FA Cup for the sixth time, and the first time in 10 years.

But during the team’s trophy parade on Monday evening, defender Aleksander Melgalvis Andreassen took those celebrations to a whole other level by performing a strip tease live on stage and putting his penis inside the trophy.

Yes, you read that right. This is a thing that actually happened.

In a statement released following the controversial celebration, Aleksander admitted that he may have got a little carried away during the ceremony, but the 28-year-old footballer doesn’t regret what he did.

“I’ve come a long way to play in a cup final. Of course I can understand that [people thought] it was a bit over the top,” he told the Dagbladet newspaper.

“I’ll admit that and apologise, but it is not something I regret.”

While we certainly didn’t mind the slightly bizarre choice of celebration, not everyone saw the funny side.

“Winning the cup is a big thing and obviously it should be celebrated, but it is very possible to do so in a manner that shows the cup a bit more respect” said Norwegian FA communications director Yngve Haavik.

“I am sure it wasn’t intentional from Melgalvis but it came out the wrong way regardless. I think Melgalvis and Lillestrøm agree with that.”
